Sergeant Douglas William Henry
Kennett joined the Royal Australian Air Force on 11th July 1949 and was posted
to Vietnam for duties with 161 (Independent) Reconnaissance Flight in June 1966.
Working in
conditions which were difficult and quite foreign to him as a RAAF tradesman he
willingly accepted the many challenges of his new appointment and through his
leadership, technical ability and example he was directly responsible for the
high serviceability rate of his Unit's aircraft.
Always concerned
for the safety and serviceability of the aircraft for which he was responsible
Sergeant Kennett took pains to teach his skills to the Army tradesmen under his
command. He willingly lead the duty servicing crews through the long hours
resulting from frequent night operations and the standard of his supervision
resulted in rapid completion of routine servicings.
Sergeant Kennett's service with
161 (Independent) Reconnaissance Flight was in the finest traditions of the
Royal Australian Air Force.
